Home Learning Space for Students and Teachers

These are unprecedented times, especially for modern education. One thing is for sure: More teachers and students will be working from home than ever before. It's important to be comfortable in your own space. But how can we make that possible in a small space on a reasonable budget? We've got some creative ideas for you!

If you are teaching virtually from home, not only is it important to have a space that is "quiet on the set" but it's also beneficial to have a background free from outside distraction. This can be HARD to achieve at home! We wanted to introduce you to Taylor's home work space. This is about a 4 foot section of wall in her spare bedroom. She had some decor hung up, but wanted to spice it up a little more so she took it down in favor of extra bulletin board paper she had from her classroom. Yes, that background is bulletin board paper! It is hung with just a few command strips and made a big impact. This desk was recommended by a fellow Instagram teacher and was less than $100 on Amazon. It folds up, which makes it a great space saver when not in use. It is also lightweight and very portable!

Morgan created her workspace with things she already had at home. The desk was built by her handy husband and was originally a craft station now turned work station. A good backdrop became an evident need. She took a green screen stand she already had at school and put a rose gold backdrop on it. The green screen would be fun too! But, she opted for a neutral background at all times. A ring light helps out with lighting and with a computer to ZOOM she was ready to go!

We LOVE this idea from Angelina Harper on Facebook. Click here to see the original post. This simple idea provides an individual workspace in an already established area, limited distractions, visuals, and it's even portable! We recommend letting your student design and decorate their own board. Most of these items can be found at your local dollar store, but we've provided Amazon affiliate links for your convenience.

Here's another option from Arisini Woodburn on Facebook. Click here to see the original post. This provides a more permanent place for students to do their work. This desk is from Walmart for only $25! It's sold out now but we've linked some similar options below. Notice the color coded accessories for each child. This could help save countless headaches fighting over whose is whose!

Other Things to Consider:
  • Microphone Headset- In an effort to minimize background noise and distractions, microphone headsets can extremely come in handy for teachers and students.
  • Blue Light Glasses- Protect your eyes from looking at a screen constantly.
  • Lighting- When you're in a ZOOM, lighting can help everyone see you more clearly. A ring light or even a lamp on your desk will help.
